When testing metals, indentation hardness correlates linearly with tensile strength. This important relation permits economically important nondestructive testing of bulk metal deliveries with lightweight, even portable equipment, such as hand-held Rockwell hardness testers. Steel testing equipment from M&L iincludes: Brinell hardness testers, Rockwell type hardness testers, Vickers type hardness testers, Stiffness testers, Steel force testing equipment, Roughness testers, Strength testers, Thickness testers, and Vibration testers.

Coating thickness is an important variable that plays a role in product quality, process control, and cost control. Measurement of film thickness can be done with many different instruments. Understanding the equipment that is available for film thickness measurement and how to use it is useful to every coating operation. The issues that determine what method is best for a given coating measurement include the type of coating, the substrate material, the thickness range of the coating, the size and shape of the part, and the cost of the equipment. Commonly used measuring techniques for cured organic films include nondestructive dry film methods such as magnetic, eddy current, ultrasonic, or micrometer measurement and also destructive dry film methods such as cross-sectioning or gravimetric (mass) measurement. Methods are also available for powder and liquid coatings to measure the film before it is cured.

We at M&L believe the best way to make your product more profitable is by making it more reliable and the best way to ensure this is to perform accelerated life testing and life estimations throughout all levels of design and production as well as at all levels within a product from individual components to complex systems. Humidity causes corrosion problems, electrical failures, accelerates wear on moving parts, and infiltrates plastics and coatings. Temperature humidity testing can evaluate the performance of electronic, metal and plastic products, corrosion resistance, and coatings in humid environments. Our equipment can test to exact environments using both temperature and humidity in constant or variable conditions.
M&L provides universal materials testing machines and digital force testers for a wide range of industries including testers for plastics, concrete, biomaterials and fatigue testing. We provide high quality, cost-efficient, simple-to-operate materials testing machines and retrofits for tension, compression, torsion and fatigue testing as well as a complete line of grips, fixtures and extensometers for all of our materials testing machines and digital force testers.
We offer a variety of portable hardness testers that provide a convenient means for determining hardness readings in situations that do not lend themselves to bench testing.
Typically classified by the test scales they perform, they are ideal for testing large parts such as pipes, dies, engine blocks, stacked sheets, or tubing on racks.
Durometers are used to measure the hardness of non-metallic materials, such as rubber, plastic, foam, wood, etc… A durometer works by measuring the penetration of the gauges indentor under the specific conditions of a given durometer standard.
The Rex Gauge product line consists of analog and digital durometer models as well as durometer operating stands, rubber test block kits, calibrators for durometers (Rex Gauge as well as the competitors durometer models), o-ring fixtures, printers and other related accessories. Also available are Rex Gauge re-conditioned durometers in most models – please inquire for availability and pricing.

Concrete Testing Equipment for all your needs is available from M&L - from fresh concrete testing to concrete testing for repair work. We carry a variety of concrete Air Meters, including Type B Meters, Roll-a-Meters and the Volumetair. If you need slump testing equipment we have several Slump Cone Test Sets, as well as the J-Ring, L-Box and Segregation Column for Self-Consolidating Concrete (SCC). Our Maturity Meter provides a simple answer to concrete curing determinations. We have a large selection of Concrete Beam and Concrete Cylinder Molds to meet any need, as well as Unit Weight Measures for ASTM Unit Weight Determinations.
A maturity meter consists of sacrificial sensors placed in the concrete that measure temperature and calculate maturity, as well as handheld readers that download data from the sensors. The sensors predict the in-place concrete strength gain, which then allows the contractor to make a decision on concrete form removal, thereby speeding up the construction schedule.
We carry Ovens and Furnaces by Humboldt, the leading manufacturer and supplier of soil testing equipment, asphalt testing equipment, and concrete testing equipment.
