NCAT, the National Center for Asphalt Technology has developed an environmentally friendly and cost effective method for determining asphalt content.
A 12 lab round robin field test has been conducted by NCAT exclusively with the Thermolyne NCAT Asphalt tester. Results and proven performance are documented by NCAT.

Thermolyne's NCAT tester provides asphalt content of bituminous paving mixtures accurate to 0.11%. This method provides a clean aggregate sample for gradation analysis.

LC-8 and LC-12, heavy duty ovens designed for today's materials testing laboratory. You'll find the horizontal airflow provides excellent temperature stability and uniformity performance in these 8 and 12 cu. ft. models.

      These large capacity ovens are able to take on the big heavy loads. The heavy duty shelves will hold up to 200 pounds each. These shelves are perfect for gyratory compactor molds.
      The heating elements and fans have been designed into the top of the ovens.

For use in the degassing process of the binder that has been removed from the Pressure Aging Vessel in accordance with AASHTO PP1-98.
Immediately following the degassing process, the material can then be tested in the Bending Beam Rheometer or the Dynamic Shear Rheometer or the Direct Tension device.
Degassing of the material prior to these tests insures that the material does not contain air bubbles.
Entrapped air can compromise the integrity of the binder material, thus causing false failures in the previously mentioned test devices.
